THE WOOL CONTROVERSY.

KEEN EXCITEMENT CAUSED. Received 7-10 p.m., July 10. LONDON. July I). The wool agitation has not abateu. It is exciting interest in Parliamentary circles. Notice of a number of questions for and against the priceoffered have already been given in the House of Commons. Hitherto similar questions were postponed, pending negotiations. Farmers point out that Colonial wools have advanced 80 to 90 per cent on prices early in 1914. Opponents urge • the Government to impose an excess profits tax on farmers if the demands are' conceded. The agitation is bringing Colonial wool into prominence. Speakers at the Lincolnshire Farmers' Union protested that the Government was allowing wool useif| to buy wool in New Zealand while stopping sales of English wool. The “Yorkshire Observer” understands that the Government will not take action in the direction of acquiring the colonial wool clip unless, the situation becomes more acute.
