GISBORNE, July 10. Mr J. R. Kirk, one of Gisborne’s fore most and most popular lawyers, and the immediate ox-Mayor of the town, lias enlisted for seme,- with the Expeditionary Force, and passed the medical test. Mr Kirk has recently been io-elected for the third time a ine.ni,v *r of the Hawke’s Bay . Education Board, was a member of the Royal Commission on Education in 1912, and topped the poll at the election of members in the North Island to the National* Council of Education. Besides carrying on successfully his extensive practice, he has devoted much time to public work. He holds a commission as captain.
