PROPOSAL TO ENLIST MEN IN NEW ZEALAND. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 0. Captain A. Whitney lias received a cablegram from the Admiralty instructing him to act as agent in cosnection with the forthcoming visit of Commander Armstrong in regard to a proposal to enlist the services of yachtsmen and motor-boat enthusiasts for special motorboat patrol work. Captain Whitney leaves for Welington on Sunday to endeavour to arrange with the Dominion Government to give passages for enlisted men in transports to Capetown, whence the Admiralty will, arrange passages. Professional sailors with Board of Trade certificates will also be given commissions in the Naval Reserve.
