The ages of officers In the Expeditionary Force was referred to in a question which was put to the Minister. , for Defenceto -day hy Mr who asked whether commissions are given to men of twenty years of age. and if so, was it wise that such young men should he appointed when older men are available? , Mr Allen replied that the present regulations do not allow Exneditio|'ffiy Force reinforcements who are under 2# years of age. Commissions may, however, be granted to men of 20 years of age and upwards, who show' by their ability and character that they are fit to command men. Commissions., gran-> ted to the latter are given only after the men concerned have proved themselves to he better than other men in their draft, irrespective of age.
