GOLF.
Two competitions were conducted by the Taihape Golf Club last week-end, and the games were kec'nly contested, reflecting groat credit on the handicappers and oh the consistency of the play.
The men’s stroke was won by Champion, whose card read 102-27-75. Other cards were* as folltow: Hesketh, 106-30-76; Wakeman, 98-20-78; Evans, 83-1-79; Todd, 91-15-79; Kelsall, 109-29-80; Ncagle, 98-16-82. The ladies’ stroke competition was won by Miss McWhirter with 71-10-61. Others were as' follow: Mrs. Neagle, 72-5-67; Miss McDonnell, 75-5-70; Miss Spooner, 82-10-72; Miss Broghton, 79-5-74. A foursome is to be played this week, the following being the drawing: Todd and Collinson play Evans and Dashwood, Hesketh and Plummer play Bray and Drayton, Neagllo and Bond play Train and O ’Keefe, Beban and Wason play Champion and Murray, Garratt and James play Kelsall and Ongley, Powell and Gardner play Wakeman and Andrews. “He lives long that lives well” — Fuller. People with strong constitutions naturally expect to live many years, but often such people prematurely break down through neglect of a simple cold.
