THE OHAKUNE CATASTROPHE.

According to advice received to-day by the Minister of Public Works, the report previously received that No. 3 tunnel had been charged, and was being sealed when the explosion oeeunred, was incorrect. Mr Mellsop (the assistant engineer) and t-he oversecy were superintending the charging of the tunnel when the explosion occurred. Two men who were injured were outside the tunnel, and after the explosion one of them lighted a candle and went into the tunnel. He t\-.\a affected by gas. however, and had to come out. Both men were taken to the -hospital.
