Mis Julia Maxwell, who has arrived after 4J years in Vienna, says that when she left in December, the Austrians were certain 'the vfefl would end in March. When war was declared soldiers leaving for the front were smothered with flowers, lately it is very different. Soldiers dread the Russian winter; there is a pronounced shortage of meat and white bread, but coffee, cocoa and tea are plentiful and cheaper than ever, imported from Holland and Sweden. Miss Maxwell did not experience any difficulty in leaving the country.
