COALING BATTALION FORMED IN AUSTRALIA.
TO OBVIATE DELAY CAUSED BY LABOUR TROUBLES.

MELBOURNE, This Day
The Defence authorities are forming a Naval Coaling Battalion, for coaling transports. Mr. Jensen states that thu action is due to the way transports have been delayed through labour troubles. Three hundred men were sworn in fon the v Coaling Battalion this week. They wear a distinctive uniform, and are to receive a Union Jack.
The Government is appealing for more men. Mr. Pearce expressed the opinion that Autralia would •produce sufficient to enable them to supply an additional division.
