SOLDIER LOSES ONE-THIRD OF SKULL.
At a recent sitting of the Paris Academy Dr. A. G.uepin' exhibited a 22-year-old soldier who in an operation in February, 1915, -had one-third of "the left side of his skull cut away. The patient is in excellent health, and has entirely recovered from the operation. He is now doing garrison duty, and it is possible that he will again go to the front. Dr. Guepin explained that in this particular case, as in others, the removal of part of th e skull left no bad results. This is particularly so in cases of fracture of the skull, even when part of the brain fluid is lost. The French physicians who were present were amazed at the results shown, and it was stated that when the surgical history of this war is written the skill shown by surgeons in various dangerous and difficult operations will astonish the world. Advances and discoveries hav c been made by surgeons that will place this science foremost in the world-.
