MR. ASQUITH'S MESSAGE TO ITALY.
A TRIBUTE TO A GALLANT ARMY. PARIS, April 5. Mr. Asquith, on leaving Rome, sent a message to the Italian people paying a tribute to the incomparable bravery 'and tenacity of their army, which was struggling against almost insurmounttable difficulties. He added that he was more than ever convinced of the certainty of victory. A RUSSIAN VICTORY. DEFEAT OF THE TURKS. LONDON, April 5. A Petrcgrad communique says that en the coast region at Caucasus, the Turks, supported by fire from the cruiser Breslau, attacked the Russian right flank, but were repulsed with heavy loss. Simultaneously, we attacked the centre and carried part of the- Turkish positions, and dislodged the enemy from a series of mountain positions on the Upper Chorckt B'asin.
