DEFENCE NOTES.

The following are the names of the men who left this district for camp on Monday morning: Mounted: C. E. Middleton, Hunterville; C. TV. Campbell, Hunterville; F. Laird (Hunterville); P. H. Ashton, Taihape; J. Robb, Ohingaiti. Infantry: C. H. Little, Mangaweka;' G. L. Hancox, Mangaweka; B. Bartlett, Mangaweka; W. H. Wilson, Taihape ; W. Brown, Taihape; W. Buckous, Taihape: F. TVoods, Taihape; A. G. Jones, Taihape; S. Dixon, Taihape;' A. E. Balneaves, Taihape; J. J. Murphy, Taihape; C. L. Nicholls, Taihape; P. V. Smith, Taihape. Th e Wellington district is very short of its quota and recruits are urgently wanted for the infantry. The local Recruiting Committee have opened an office in the Town Hall Buildings and are now enrolling" recruits. Mr. N. A. Mi ler, a returned trooper, has been appointed secretary.
