WOMAN FOUND DROWNED.

BELIEVED TO L'E SUICIDE. This morning the body of Mrs. Frances Lee, ||wcman cf 65 years of age, was found in the Hautapu ar the junction of the Otaihape slrfßa. It appeals that Mrs. Lee, who had not enjoyed good health for some considerable ti’me, came from Hihitahi on Saturday and was staying with her daughter, Mrs. Bales, of Hautapu. street. She occupied the same bed as Mrs. Bales’ daughter, who was awakened at 4.30 o’clock this morning by the talking of Mrs. Lee. Later thegirl fell, off to sleep, and when Mrs Bales went into the bedroom this morning at 8 o’clock Mrs. Lee was not to be seen. Mrs. Bales became worried, mainly because cf statements that had been made by her mother at various times and she sent her two daughters to try and find her. They traced footsteps to the gate leading into the domain at the end of Hautapu street anfi then followed the trace of footsteps along the track near the Otaihape stream. They discovered the body lying in the water near the junction of the Otaihape and Hautapu stream. They immediately returned home and the police and Dr. Sinclair were notified. The body was recovered by Constable Manly and Dr/ Sinclair could only pronounce life to be extinct.

An inquest will be held this afternoon at. 3 p.m. by the District Coroner.
