T PIPES AND TOBACCO OUR OUR j v FIGHTING MEN. ‘ ‘Sit, —To show our soldiers at the front'., we remember them, may I ask I soldiers now in New Zealand returned, j the men with hearts, the turneclf downs, and old soldiers, to send their t'feb'mrades at the front a pipe to commemorate April 25th. A large’ firm c merchants have offered to supply the ■same at landed cost, so a really good useful pipe can be sent for 1/. These we will enclose in a printed envelope, with a suitable wording, and yoi
enclose a short note your name. We will pack the pipes free and hand them to the Defence Department to forward and distribute. Send along your I/. We will do the rest free. May we ask the public to fill the pipes, and the best way to do so is through the Tobacco Fund. Messrs. H. O. Wills’ kind offer is 100 cigarettes and 4oz tobacco for 2/6. We are authorised to -collect and do so most willingly. There was nothing I appreciated so much at the front as a gift of tobacco. Ask any returned man and lie will tolj you the same. We will acknowledge every subscription sent us and forward the money to the proper quarters ever’ few days without any deduction what--ever. Pipe list close April 21st. Smoke Oh! for our gallant lads. Pipes from their comrades. Tobacco from their friends.
