ENEMY'S NEW DODGES.
Several new features have appeared in the fighting on the Russian front. The Austrians, from choice or necessity |says a special correspondent of the Yorkshire Post), are employing ■wire ropes as thick as one's thumb for making entanglements, and since the German shortage of men has become manifest, they have multiplied to an excessive degree their already large proportion of maxims. Moreover, maxims in action are fixed, and not swung about, thereby gaining something in simplification of constructor It has been found that a. much more certain effect is produced by setting maxims at intervals at certain carefully arranged angle's, the result being a scientific crossfire which covers every inch of the front, and eliminates the hazards of the personal element in handling this formidable weapon. Four men now form a Gvjrman maxim unit, and both weapon and men are abandoned cheerfully, the Germans reckoning that the loss of the whole unit is negligible provided the maxim has been at work for the certain minmum limit of time
