YOUTH'S JOY RIDE.
ON A FIRE ENGINE.

A s a sequel -to the discovery of the Cambridge municipal motor fire engine in a by-street of Hamilton East early on Thursday morning, a young man named Harold Macindoe, employed on a farm near Cambridge, was arrested to-day by Senior-Sergeant Cassells, of Hamilton, and Constable Cleary, of Cambridge. The young man admitted to the police that on Wednesday night he entered the fire station, and took the fire engine for a jaunt to Hamilton. He was about to return when the machinery broke down, ana he therefore discarded it. He said that he then went to a livery stable, and, by representing himself as an employee of Messrs Crowther and Bell, liverymen, of Cambridge, ihe obtained the h*ire of a horse, on which he made his way home. The horse, which the youth ha£ failed to return, was found wandering in the streets of Cambridge, and its identification led to his arrest. He will be charged at the Hamilton Court to-morrow with obtaining goods under false pretences, and with being illegally on the premises of the Cambridge Fire Brigade.
