TWELFTH REINFORCEMENTS.
TAIHAPE MEN FAKEWELLED. : Last evening the Tailiape quota of the Twelfth Keinforccmehts" weTe"officially fare welled" by the r May or (Mr. A. L. Arrowsmith) at the Three Stars Theatre, j The' Patriotic Committee arranged for a picture show and the proprietor (Mr. A. C. Nicholls) met their desires' and a small sum to: cover the cost of the pictures. . Afterwards a; dance was held and for this Mr. Nicholls lent the -hall free of all charge, j There was'a very large attendance and the films shown were all of a high standard. In fare welling the men, the Mayor congratulated them on doing thenduty and said that the sight of maimed returned men was enough to inak. any man go. Sing?e men were not volunteering as they should and now AV as their chance. Compulsion was coming and a volunteer army was better than conscription. On behalf of the people of the district he would wish the men God-speed and hoped thay would come back safe and sounl. The Rev. 3?. H. Catherwood also spoke briefly and wished the m:-y Gpd-speed and a safe return. After the conclusion of the pictures, the hall was cleared and a dance was held, it; being kept > till, the early hours" of the morning. The dance music was' supplied by the Taihape Brass Band.
