CARNIVAL TRAIN ARRANGEMENT
To enable residents in townships along the line to see the Crowning Ceremony of the Taihape Queen Carnival special train arrangements have been made. To-night (Tuesday) and on Wednesday night a car will be attached to the 10.50 p.m. train from Taihape to Ohakune, putting down passengers returning from the Coronation function, where required. At 12.30 a.m., on Thursday, the so-called midnight express will stop at Mangaweka, to (Mangaweka residents, to return home the same night. Those railway conveniences have been granted, owing to the expressed wish of a number of people who desire to see the gorgeous ceremonies which are as near as possible a replica of those attending the crowning of royalty. There are many people living far back from the railways who will probably miss this great scene owing to the necessity of making a long night journey, nad it might be advisable t ohold a matinee on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon so that all children and those living at a distance could with more convenience and less danger attend. There is every prospect of the ceremony being
a huge success. Mr. Payton has had an experience that should be a guarantee that every section of formality will be faithfuly pourtrayed and excellently executed. Rehearsals have been successful, each participant being well versed in what is essential. A feature of the rehearsal last night was the orchestra. The Taihape Orchestra is becoming an organisation that the town may feel proud of, and it is pleasing to note that they have displayed a public spiritedness in coming forward with their services on such an occasion. With the railway facilities above mentioned, it is probable a third repetiton of the Crowning of the Queen elect (Mrs. R. W. Smith) mvjy be necessary 4 so -that everyone may have an opportunity of seeing it. It is to be hoped that Her Majesty will confer copious honours on our Ohakune friends when her favours are being bestowed, for the whole-souled work they did in raising the splendid sum contributed towards the Carnival fund merits more than the knighting of one or two.
