CARNIVAL CORONATION.
The Taihape Carnival, up to the present, has been an eminently successful underatking. It is not complete yet for t!ie crowning function has not been i cached Those responsible for ensuring the complete triumph, of the district’s efforts are hard at work, studying, planning and practicing for the gorgeous scene that is to accompany the crowning of the Carnival Queen elect, and the final act of the splendid campaign, generously contributed to in aid of soldiers who may come back to us wounded and incapacitated, and of those who have, for protection of home and Empire, given up those on whom they only had to depend fcr subsistence. The coronation is the last public act in connecton with the Carnival and we believe it will be I quite in beeping with the success achieved up to this point. The arrangements and organisation are in the hands of Mr Stan. Peyton, whose success in directing the Marton Coronation was phenomenal. Both Mr and Mrs Peyton’s services at Marton were the subject of many eulogistic articles and speeches, and it is certain that their efforts to produce something even better in Taihape will enthusiastically be strained. It is to be hoped that all those who have promised to assist will throw themselves entirely into making this Carnival function what it should be, and what the public, who have so generously given, have a right to exnect. The Master of Ceremonies appointed has the experience, enthusiasm, and ability to make the Coronation what it should be and it only remains for those taking part to loyally do Oiejr cart, snaring no time or pains to make themselves perfect.
