CARNIVAL ART UNION.
RESULT OF DRAWING,
Last evening the executive of the Taihape Carnival hold the drawing of the two art unions in the Town Hall. The first one drawn was the Ford mo-tor-car presented by Mr A. E. Wakeman. Slips representing the numbers of the tickets sold wore placed in a large churn and after this had been revolved, » a slip Avas draAvn out, the number being 3764, in the name of Mr T. Hills, of Rangiora, Canterbury. The draAving of the art union, Avhich the sideboard was first prize, then took place Avith the following results: — First prize, sideboard, presented by Messrs F. W. Somerville and Employees, Ticket No. 2295, Mr D. Moore, HunterviJle.
Second prize:—Section at Waionrn presented by Mr Geo. Bray, Ticket No 15300, “John Bull, ” Taihape.
Third prize:—Saddle donated by Messrs Fraser and Co., Mrs J. A. Anderson, Bennett ’s Siding. Fourth prize: Double-barrelled breach-loader, presented by Messrs McLaughlan Bros., Mr. Sexton, Taihape
Tho Mayor (Mr A. L. Arrowsmith), who supervised the drawing, then stated that two of the prizes for the picture show art unions had not been claimed and it was intended to auction them. The two articles, a bangle ami a gent.’s watch were then put up by Mr B.| Fitzgerald, the former being bought by Mr Duncan for £2 2/, and the latter by Mr D. Neagle for 30/.
