THE WHEAT SCHEME.
FARMERS CAN STAND OUT.

Speaking in the State Assembly, Mr Graham stated that under the wheat scheme the farmers were quite free to hold their crops. They would not be coerced, but those standing out must not grumble if at a later period the Government had full cairgoes and refused to ship their wheat.

The Red Funnel Company of London has purchased the steamer Grantala. There is a strong demand for steam tonnage on European account.
The Grantala is a steel steamer of 3,655 tons, built in 1903, and owned by the Adelaide S.S. Co., Ltd.

The Federal Premier (Mr Hughes) has announced that the Common wealth has arranged with tlhe Queensland Government for the purchase of next season’s sugajr crop at the sanm price •'£ 18 per ton) and on the same condition as the present crop was purchased.
