THE BALKANS. SERVIA DECLARES WAR AGAINST BULGARIA. (Oct. 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 15. Servia has officially declared war against Bulgaria. INVASION OF SERVIA. GERMANS CONTINUE TO ADVANCE. BULGARIANS MEET STRONG OPPOSITION. LONDON, October 15. The latest news from the Balkans state s that tfne Germans continue to advance south of Degrade, and have captured works around Pozarevata. The Bulgarians are meeting Avith a stubborn resistance and have only advanced one mile into Servia. The railway line • is still intact. A GREEK NOTE. ANNOUNCES NEUTRALITY. LONDON, October 13. BULGARS ATTACKED. I FERDINAND'S EXCUSE FOR WAR, (Ret:. 12.45 a.m.) ATHENS, October 15. The Bulgarian Legation states that the Servians attacked the Bulgarians near Kustendil, thereupon King Ferdinand called upon the people and the army to defend the natioA. AN INDIGNANT DENIAL. (Rec. 1.25 a.m.) ATHENS, October 15. The Servian Minister indignantly denies the statement of the Bulgarian Legation. GERMANS LOSING HEAVILY. BULGARIANS REPULSED. (Bee. 12.45 a.m.) BUCHAREST, Oct. 15. The Germans are losing three thousand daily northward of Belgrade. The Servians annihilated a German brigade near Shabat, taking prisoners one thousand. ; The Bulgarians have everywhere been repujsed, and two thousand taken prisoners. * LOST GROUND RE-TAKEN. • ROME, October 15. The Seeolo 's Nish correspondent says that, the Servians counter-attacked near Knishcvatz, and regained the ground lost. APPEAL TO BULGARIANS. LONDON, October 15. Count Jekoff, in an order of the day aitouncing his appointment to the supremo command, recalls that brilliant Bulgarian victories followed tragic disappointments. He expresses Ms unshakeable confidence that the troops will repair the wrongs of the nation, and appeals to all Bulgarian women for' contributions to the common cause. UNHAPPY FERDINAND. AFRAID OF ASSASSINATION. BUCHAREST, Oct. 15. The Kaiser recently DC m King Ferdinand a magnificent armoured motor-car for his personal use, to protect him against any attempt, on his life. King Ferdinand also wears a thick coat of steel mil, and a military cap with steel lining. His rooms resemble a fort, with doors of steel, and elaborate system of signals in case of peril. ITALY'S ATTITUDE. LONDON, October 15. Senors Salandra and Sonnino assured the Bulgarian Minister Standoff of the benevolent feelngs towards Bulgaria, and said it would be a war without hatred. ITALY MAY HELP. PARIS, October 14. M. Viviani anounced that Italy will probably participate in the Balkans. THE SALONIKA TROOPS. LONDON, October 15. A German wireless says that the troops at Salonika comprise 13,000 French, 5,000 Algerians, Moroccans, and 3,000 British.
