i'2oo RAISED FOR CARNIVAL.

A SPLENDID ENTERTAINMENT.

Once more has Rangiw r aea ris-m to the call in a most commendable manner. During the past fortnight everyone has been as busy as possible preparing for this great day.

-eA As usual we were favoured with the ' ) worst possible weather, yet norwitiistanding the bad roads and fearful travelling, the hall was packed. Among ijhe visitor s were friends from Pvanoi, Hihitahi, Tangiwai, Ruanui and Taihape. We do regret the absence of a few members of the Spoof 3aul, for judging by the splendid items given by the members who braved the elements (and bad roads) the whole troupe must be well worth hearing. We extend a most cordial thanks to our friends: Mr A. Walker, Mr De Latour, Mrs S. Peyton, and, above all, our gOod old friend, Mr Stanley Peyton, who is a concert in himself. But not only are his good qualities confined as a merrymaker, but as a "raker in of boodle," there are few his equal. The way he coaxed the bids from the audience was a treat, and when the total was taken we iiad £143 for the flag alone. —Good old Rangiwaea and Raketipauma. The Ladies' Committee deserve especial mention for the full proceedings of the day. Everything ttiad been plan.

ned so as to pass off in a most sociable

and pleasant manner. That cup of \ afternoon tea was delicious, ladies, and J the Jumble Stall a regular haunter. The total proceedngs of the day is about £2OO.
