TAOROA.

| A HOCKEY SOCIAL. * (Own Correspondent). Last Friday the members of the Taoroa Ladies' Hockey Club gave a. social to end the season. 'The entertainment was opened tnr the members sing "Three Cheers for the Red, White, and Blue," the colours of the. Club. During the evening items were contributed by Mrs. D. Gordon, Misses Overton and SmylSe, and Messrs. Law, Miniiie, Gordon, and Welsh. An item very much enjoyed was "Three Old Maids of Lee," given bysix of the girls. The Burlesque Band by the members in fane}' costume, caused great merriment. The programme ended by the singing; of the Russian National Anthem by the Club. Mr. G. Gordon, on behalf of the Club, thanked Mr. Brown for the? for paying" the expenses of the hall for ground he had given the girle to playon, and for paying tho expenses of the hall for the social. Supper was then served and games* indulged' in till midnight, when the singing of the National Anthem ended a very enjoyablb evening.
