ALLEGED DESERTION.
TWO MAORIS TO BE COURT MARTIALLED.
AUCKLAND, October 8
It is not often that a court-martial takes place in Auckland, but on Tuesday next a military tribunal will sit at Nafrrow Neck. Two Maori soldiers, ; members of the second reinforcements, wili he cluvged with desertion. One is ;i"!egi'tl to have deserted whilb on leave and rhe other is stated to have escaped from the ship. Proceedings will be of more than ordinary interest since an important witness will be a Maori occupying a high position who is alleged to have made utterances calculated to actuate the men in their desertion. The proceedings w,ill be open.
