The death occurred at Treacliani Hospital to-day of Private John Vv atson, D Company, 7th Reinforceui juts. The cause of .death was cerebro-spinal meningitis. Deceased, who came from Wanton, Southland, was 29 years of ag'e. He was admitted to Trsntham Hospital on 9th July suffering licm influenza, and on the following cay became seriously ill.

Transport Aparima arrived at Port Chalmers to-day and anchored in the stream, while transhipping to iaauches a number of returned soldiers fur the- quarantine station.
