MATAROA NOTES.
(Own Correspondent.) Messrs. C. Murphy, Marshal Jones, and J. Sinclair were- entertained by their Mataroa friend's at a farewell social in the Hall on Friday evening, prior to their leaving for camp. There was a good attendance, and dancing was kept up till about 1 a.m. A very ample and- tasty supper was provided and thoroughly appreciated. At the conclusion, Mr. A. J. May, on behalf of the company, thanked the promoters fora very-enjoyable evening and closed the proceedings by asking a>l to join in singing “God' Save the King,** which was done most heartily. On Friday evening- next the Mataroa Patriotic Committee close their efforts with a grand social and dance, sale of goods, bazaar, nd' other novelties. Judging by rumours, there will be an overcrowding attendance, and all may anticipate a thoroughly enjoyable evening - , as no efforts will be spared to make it so. Judging by the influx of agricultural implements, the settlers of the district are now appreciating the benefits of cultivation.
