INTERNED GERMANS ESCAPE. (Rec. 9 a.m.) MADRID, August 15. • Mannesmann Brothers, a Moroccan firm which was notorious at the time of the Agadir incident, were arrested at the beginning of the war and intern- : ed at Casablanca. On the outbreak of the war enemy subjects yer e registered, disarmed, and placed under police surveillance. Later special powers were taken prohbiting and regulating the entry, departure, and residence. Those of military age are interned at Ahmednagar, Bombay, numbering 1143 > The rest have been placed under super. vision. Special consideration has been shown to missionaries, who, if of good behaviour, hav e been allowed to remain at their posts on parole, vouched for by responsible Brt.iishers. Individuals of objectionable conduct have been J concentrated at convenient centres, j where suprevision i s easier. There are 1232 in civil charge, of which 489 are I missionaries and their families.
