DECLARATION OF WAR.
ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. The arrangements for the Declaration Day services in the Town HaS y Taihape, on August 4, are now complete, and it is earnestly hoped that King George's request that this day should be observed as a day of intercession will be honoured by the people of Taihape and surrounding districts. The organisers of the various services would like it to be widely known that a collction will be taken up at both services—the afternon for wounded soldiers, and the evening for wounded soldiers and Belgian relief. It is hoped that this appeal will meet with a generous response. All money received for the soldiers will be placed in the hancfet of His Worship the Mayor till a .boaid or other authorities be apopinted i« deal with the matter of securing the fund for the best ends. The organisers of the Declaration Day services Have been advised to adopt this course >« view of some doubts being expressed as to the destination of some funds catItected. It is hoped . that the whole community will work together to malie thesc services a success and so strngtlicn the hands of our boys by letting them know that those at home are prepared to do their share to help them to victory.
