Meat: Market weaker and slightly lower. Mutton. Canterbury 7 3-16 d per lb, light weight; heavy weights, 6 7-8 d; North Island 7d for light weights; ewes 6ia. Lamb: Canterbury 8 3-8 d for best quality all weights; second-grade Bid for light weight; other than Canterbury, 8 5-16 d for best quality light weight; ordinary quality, ?.}d.
Beef. Supplies of American chilled, small. Chilled hinds fores 7Jd. Butter: Market firm, "Danish slow, , per cwt 162/ to 166/; Siberian, good demand continues, 128/ to 132/; Irish creamery 142/ to 148/; Australian.very little offering, 138/ to 140/; Argentine, unsettled, 14<0/ to 144/ Cheese: Market weak and declining rapidly. During the week prices have been irregular; there are large quantities of low grade Canadian and United States in store; United States chees e is in large quantities and is affecting the market very seriously. Chees e transactions have been light, buyers show no disposition to purchase on account of being loaded with cheese bought for delivery at high prices. Canadian white and coloured; per cwt, 74/ to 76/; English Cheddar 94/ to 98/; New Zealand Avhite and coloured 76/ to 78/; occasionally 80/; United States '6B/ to 76/,' according to quality and condition. Hemp: Market very quiet New Zealand, good fair grade, per ton, £3l 10/; fair, £29 10/; for July and September shipment, good fair, £3l; fair, £29. Manila: New graded fair, £36 per ton; medium, £3l 10/. The output from Manila for the week was 25,000 bales. i . ;f-i vf
Hops: Market remains firm. English 105/ to 125/ per cwt; Californian, 85/ to 105/. Wheat: Market quiet hut firm. For July to August shipment, Canadian, 55/ per qr; American 48/; Argentine, nothing offering here. Oats: Market quiet but steady. July and August shipments, Argentine 25/6 per qr.
Wool: Wool sales closed firm, manufacturers are busy, but a reduction has been made in khaki orders, and tjherefore there Is less demand for crossbreds; Americans are not buying at present. France is buying crossbreds and Russia merinos. The prospect is favourable and estimated values for fine crossbreds, all grades is 1/5J to 1/7 1-8; medium crossbreds, 1/3 to 1/5; coarse crossbred 1/1 to 1/4; superior merinos 1/3 to 1/5; medium 1/0?, to 1/2J.; inferior, lOd.
