TRANSACTIONS FOR THE MONTH' OF MAY. Returns cf the transactions j u Crown lands Cor the month of May are published in line latest "Abstract of statistic?." Lands opened by the Crown for sale and selection during that month totalled 77,700 acres, consisting of the following' classes: Ordinary Crown lands 14,010 acres, Cheviot estate 4205 acres, land for settlements 23,041 acres, national endowment 83,53?! acres, primary education endow. ment.3 00 acres, other endowments. 146 acres. The systems into which these lands were divided wore: Optional system, 10,428 acre?: renewable lease. 27,034 acres; pastoral runs. 35,540 acres; pastoral licenses in mining districts under special regulations, acres; leases under Public Bodies' Leases Act, 60 acres; lease by auction and application, and miscellaneous, I4F> ■acres. The selections during the month numbered 152, and comprised in all 69,741 acres of land, made up cf the folic wing classes: Ordinary Crown lands 22,213 acres, land for settlements 5831 aerg-3- national endowment 30,020 acres, educational and other endowments 1777 acres.
