A COURSING CONFERENCE. AN AUSTRALIAN CUP. MORE RECRUITS WANTED. YOUNG MEN SLACKING. SYDNEY This Day. The Interstate Coursing Conference decided to form an Australian Coursing Council, and a committee was appointed to draft the scheme. The main objects are uniformity of rules and keeping a National register Of Greyhounds the "establishing of an Australian Cup to replace the present Waterloo Cup not being run owing to the war.
A meeting of the Australasian Science Congress, fixed to b e held at Hobart in January next is postponed till 1917.
Mr Wade, in the House, appealed for a party truce during wartime. He urged an organised recruiting campaign, and in an earnest recruitspeech he declared that a large proportion of young men had not realised their duty to the Empire. For every one enlisting there were nine or ten who should be doing their duty. Mr Holman defended the Commodities Commission and indicated that while he saw no reason that cordial relations between t,ho Government and Opposition should cease, he intended pushing on ths legislative programme that had been adjourned.
