A FANCY DRESS BALL.
L '.„ IN AID OF BELGIANS. fancy dress ball was held in the Turangarere School Boom in aid ef the- Belgian Relief Fund, on Friday, 2Sth May. Owing to the inclement weather, there was not a very large attendance, but those present had a most enjoyabl^jtime. The room was decorated with ferns and flags kindly lent by Mr Somerville, of Tiahape. The music was supplied by Messrs Arrow, Jenkins, Huckstep., and Gardner, and the thanks of the committee are heartily tendered to Mrs Huckstep for the use of the piano. Extras were played by the Misses Eddie, 'McPhee and Gardner. Messrs Gardner, Mulvay and Bartell enlivened the proceedings with song, stepdance, and recitation. Mr Bartell proved an efficient M.C., and kept things going right merrily until dawn. A sumptuous supper was provided by the ladies. The- singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem brought an enjoyable evening to a close.. A sum of £5 was collected. Appended is a list of the fancy costumes: Miss Arrow, leader of the Grand March, in,a dress of Belgian Colours, and carrying Belgian Flag; Miss B. McPhee, Greek Lady; Miiss Heise, Juno; Miss M.
