A young married woman, named Nellie McPherson, aged 28, was found dead in bed at her home, Vivian Street, with her throat cut She left a note asking to be buried with her baby. Her husband lives at Oamaru. A FATAL EXPLOSION. WOMAN KILLED AT TARRAS, DUNEDIN, This Day. Mary McWhinnie, aged 53, formerly of North Otago, was killed by a gas explosion at Tarras. It was stated at the inquest that the deceased, while carrying a naked light, opened the gas chamber of an acetylene plant, and that the force of th e explosion fractured her skull, death ensuing 24 hours later
RELEASED FROM BERLIN. A NAPIER RESIDENT. NAPIER This Day. The relatives of Mr. C. J, King, of Napier, formerly proprietor of the Terminus Hotel,, yesterday received a wire from the High Commisioaer, London, stating that King and his, wife were in Berlin. King was for a time interned in a civilian camp, but had now been bee* released. The Hon.
