| MURDER OF A PRIEST. I Recovery by the police of a famous are treasure stolen from the parislt' church of Mussa d’Albe after it was destroyed by the Italian aerthquakein. When the ruins of the ‘church were exploded after the disaster, it was found that a noted Byzantine triptych, executed in ivory, used as an altar piece, as well as other religious objects, wer e missing. The police i now claim to have learned - that, w.hen , part of the church was wrecked the priest was buried with art treasures in a section of the building > which re- , mained standing because its massive walls were part of an old fort built on solid rock. The priest was slain, the authorities assert, by his brother, who; suspected - the ecciesiast of being" friendly with, his wife. This man, it asserted, found the clergyman lying helpless under the ruins, and killed him with the assistance of friends, who then scared the art objects.
