A CHILD DROWNED. IN A WATER RACE Pi'ew Association —Copyright. ASHBURTON, Monday. A nine months old son of Mr D. O. Sewell, jnr., of Mayfield, fell into a water race yesterday and was drowned. FIRE AT ELLERSLIE. 11-ROOMED HOUSE DESTROYED. AUCKLAND, Monday. An 11-roomed house, a mile from Ellerslie, owned by Mr John Rountree, and occupied by Mr Charles Hunt, was gutted by fire, early on Sunday morning. The furnitur e was destroyel.but y/as insured for £3OO in the Victoria Insurance Company. The amount of insurance on the house is not available. The origin of the fire is a mystery.
