SOLDIERS SOUP POISONED

How a number of French soldiers were poisoned by some soup is related in a message from Nancy to t’jhe “Matin.” The men, who belonged to an infantry regiment, were about ot occupy the trenches near Taney, when they suddenly felt, violently ill, and three of them died. Five others had to receive medical attention, and it is [hoped they will recover. It appears that the unfortunate men. while having a meal at a. peasant’s cottage( had been poisoned by some soup in which some poisonous hemlock weed had accidentally been mixed. The man and wife at whoso r-ttago tbe soup wa s prepared have been arrested by the military authorities. pending the result of the inquiry that is proceeding into the circumstances.
