A-MOTHER’S HEROISM.

A lady who has reached Boulogne from the little town of Provin, to the east of La Basses, on the ArmentieresLens railway, reports that she had to make her escape from the town along a road swept by the enemy's fire. Her little girl (12) was killed by a bullet and tlie unhappy mother was compel!. ed to abandon hep body on the roadside in order to save the lives of her two younger children, with whom she ultimately reached Betjhune. It was on January 15 tihat she decided to leave Provin at all risks in order to put hem children in safety, and on that day a sharp engagement was in progress between the Germans and British, and the towg and roads around it were swept by a terrifific rain of bullets.
