Since our last annual meeting much has happened, Mrs OWham’and our secretary had a most successful .meeting and formed a sub-branch resulting .in Man* gaweka forming a committee and, becoming a branch of our centre. Utlktt also, formed a committee.
At the annual meeting of all branches of th e Society lysld in Welling ton, our branch was represented by Mrs Oldham and the secretary, .On Tuesday last Mrs Oldham, Mr g Jam.ee, Nurse Jones and I went to Hunter vllle where w e had a very representative meeting of ladles of the district, and formed a sub-branch. It is satisfactory to note that several new subscribers have joined bur branch, amongst others, being Mr» Russell, wife of the owner of Mt. View Station; who has generously promised us an annual subscription of £5 Since our last annual general meeting this appalling and dreadful war has been raging for 9 months anl has caused such terribe human suffering and loss of lif© that it behoves us to make still greater efforts to ensure that the rising generation shall be strong and healthy, to replace those that have gone. We must therefore go on working. Officers for the ensuing year were then elected: President: Mrs J. F, Studliolme (re-elected); Vice-presi-dents: Mesdames de Lautour, McCormick and Nathan. ' Committee. Me'sdames Barnett, James, Villars, Thurston, Wrightson, Jorgensen. Tim'bs, Somerville, Loughnan, Jennings, Murray, and Miss McKeown. Hon. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr s Arrowsraith. Auditor: Hr A. M. Ryan. Advisory Board: -Dts Barnett ‘And Boy&. RevF.' Catherwood and Stent, ! 'arid - Father Connolly, and Messrs'Bennett; Smithy Oldham, Arrowsmith and Studholme. ; ’ ; C' M ' GENERAL; ‘ ’V ' , A letter ' of , for non-attend-ance, was read from Mrs H. C. Hill, who promised a donation of £1 1/ in addition to her membership subscription. Mrs Studholme reported that the entertainment held that afternoon had realised the sum of £lB 5/. The only charges against which were for advertising. The announcement was received with applause. S everal speaker s congratulated the branch upon its work, the meeting-, though small, being very enthusiastic. One speaker pointing out that the smallness of the attendance was in a great measure due to the members being tired out with their exertions of the afternoon. The report and balance sheet will be issued in Monday’s paper.
