TRADING PERTINACITY.
The pertinacity of German firms in .their attempts to do business with British houses is repeatedly illustrated. A favouroute device is to establish the London branches as pseudo-headquar-ters, and to push the sale of the stocks accumulated in these branches. Ons firm, which specialises in writing and other papers, has forwarded to the Dominion sumptuous books of samples, not one of which gives any indication of the. locality in which the paper is manufactured. On the second page, however, the name of the firm is printed, with its London address, and then comes an illuminating N. 8.: .“This, page is the only place in the book where our name appears, so that, when same is torn out, the book can bo shown to your customers without Hie source of supply being known.” Tn order that the stationer or printer who receives the book of samples mav assist the firm ...in..an act of deception, this page is perforated down the who’e side. soMhat it may be conveniently torn out in such a way ns will nor bo noticeable/-- •
