AXEMEN’S CARNIVAL.
RANGATAUA EASTER MONDAY. Residents of the Taihape territory will Imre an opportunity of witnessing wliat is claimed to be the largest one day chopping Carnival in the Dominion which takes at Rangfrtaua, under the the Axemen’s and Athletic Assohiation, on Easter Monday. This great chopping exhibition will bo worth going a long way to see, and these who enjoy seeing some very exciting- chops, as welll as taking a pleasant little trip cannot do better than make their way to Ranjgataua on Easter Monday. It will certainly be worth anyone's while to see the two great champions pitted against each ether, W. Pock and J. B. Shewry, both oli scratch, a s these two are the pick of the world’s chopping men and they are both right after the prizes. Then Sam Kennedy the World’s Champion sawinig man will also be there and as he is> in good condition he will be at hi s best at Rangataua. The jacking competition is an entirely new feature introduced into this Carnival, and is causing quite a little sensation among old: and young irishmen, who havle expressed the ip intention to show their skill with the log-jack. Tire straight cut chop has been put on the programme at the special request of Mr R. W. Smith, M.P., who is a great supporter of all bushwerk competitions. Mr Smith tia s kindly presented a handsome massive silver cup, to be given to the winter of this straight-chop event. There will be no lack of interest, and given fine weather Rangataua is likely to experience a record gathering.
