SOUTHERN MARKET. • OIIR.ISTCHUROF, March 10. It is now admitted by the Miniate.' for Agriculture that the yield o' wheat v. ill be considerably highei than the estimate made a mouth or si: weeks ago. threshing results bavin* shown how well the wheat is turning out in Canterbury. The market appears to be a little steadier, there is less offering, and buyers are eithei holding off their market or have reduced their limits. It is now generally thought that the bulk of the wheat grown north of Rakaia has changed hands. Sales have been made during the last day or two at 0/10 at country stations, and holders for 7/- now line" it is the outside price for pearl only. Oats are very firm, and "A" grade Gartons are now worth up to 4/- at country stations. Oatsheaf chaff is not offering very freely, and the market is very firm. £5 10/- being the price generally offered. There is little business doing in potatoes, £4 still being offered for March-April delivery. Onions are easier, as the main crop is now on the market, and £3 is offered for March-April delivery.
