The Rangjtikel County Council decided en Saturday that an additional charge be made of 10 per centum on all rates for the current year not paid on or before the 29th of this month.

An inquest into the circumstances surrounding he death, of the late Mr Charles James Ward, who died suddenly at Palmerston station on Friday, was held on Saturday before Mr J. W. Poynton, S.M. Dr Rorke stated that tie had made a superficial examination of the body and found that death was due to heart failure, induced, by deceased hurrying to the railway staicn. The late Mr Ward was a farmar residing at Takapau. On Friday morning he left his home with a mob }f 800 sheep, which were trucked at Takapau for Mdrrinsville. Hef then ?ame to Palmerston, and after beinjg u town some time hurried to catch the 12.25 train north. A verdict was returned, in accordance with the medical testimony.
At about 1 o 'clock on Sunday afternoon, while Mr H. Hartley, of Himitangi, was walking along the beach, about "10 mile from Foxton Heads, on the Himitangi side, his attention was attracted by a peice of white cloth attached to a thin bit of board sticking in the sand. On going over to make investigations he discovered the remains of Mrs Dixon, se>n., of Bunnythorpe, who had been missing from Foxton beach since January 30 last,. The body was found in tie sand about three yards above high water mark, and, with the exception of the head (which was practically a skeleton) was covered in sand. It is surmised that she had fallen asleep, and on ris'ng had lost her way. Mrs Dixon was iged about 77 years, and was a wellknown resident of Bunnythorpe.
