AN OFFENDING SOLICITOR. ' MOTION TO STRIKE OFF THE ROLL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON, This Day. Application madej biy tine Hanson Law Society to the Supreme Court to have the name of F. O. R, Phillips, solicitor, Otorohaiiga, struck off the roll. Phillips was before the Court some months ago, and convicted of fabricating evidence. Mr Finlay opposed the application and drew attention to the fact that the jury returned a rider hat there was no intention to commit fraud. The offence was more technical than~grave. He thought the Court should take into consideration the youth and experience of Phillips. The case was reserved for consideration of the Court of Appeal.

A.S.R.S. WELLINGTON, March 1. The triennial conference of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants re-elected Mr. W. T. Wilson (Palmerston North) president for the ensuing three years. Mr. Chas. A SERIOUS CHARGE. 5 .1 METHODIST MINISTER ABRESTED. OHRISTCHTJRCH, March 4. A sensation was caused in the city to-day when it became known that a Methodist minister had been arrested on a charge of wilfully exposing himself in public gardens. To a policeman he said that he was the Rev. William George Maslin, of Foxton, and that, he was in Christchureh to attend the Methodist Confernoce.. Maslin was brought before the Magistrate's Court this afternoon, and elected to be dealt with summarily. Reniand and. bail were applied for. Sub-Inspector Hastie said the circumstances briefly were that at about 10.30 a.m. three young girls left the School of Art and went into the public gardens near by, and started sketching on the river bank near the bridge leading to the Acclimatisation Grounds. The accused crossed the bridge, and the girls heard a whistle from the direction opposite them. The eldest girl looked, and saw the accused exposing himself. She said 10 her companions, "Don't look." Hi* accused hid in a bush when a gardener was passing, and then came out again and exposed himself once more. The Magistrate: Who is this man?

Counsel for the accused: His name is Maslin and I am sorry to say he is a member of the Methodist ministry, and was attending the conference. He has a perfectly feasible explanation of his actions.

The Magistrate said ho would allow bail, but would make it substantial. The accused was remanded until Saturday morning, bail being fixed at himself £2OO and two sureties of £IOO each.
