CAPTAIN CHARLES BAIT. He visited the Old 'Country twice from Taihape. on the second occasion Airs F>att accompanied n;i,r The deceased took no part in either local or general polities or, in fact, any form of public lift. He was noted for straight forwardness,his word being his bond on all occasions. He first found his way to New Zealand as the captain of an emigrant ship, and like many others, he saw the land was fair to look upon, and so he decided to make it his home. He leaves a widow, Mrs Elizabeth Batr, a son and a daughter to mourn his loss. The daughter is Mrs James Georgetti, ol Mangaw'eka, and the son is Mr Charles Batt, well-known in this district. The funeral is to take place at the Taihape cemetery cn Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
