BRITAIN'S POL4CY IN EGYPT. A STRIKING COMPARISON. LONDON, Feb. 15. The "Daily Chronicle's" Cairo correspondent says that the British policy in dealing fairly and openly with the Egyptian people, in contradistinction to the Turkish duplicity and muddle, has yielded excellent results. The Egyptians remain tranquil and orderly and the newspapers express deep satisfaction that Egypt is so efficiently protected. THE TURKISH DEFEAT AT TOR. LONDON, Feb. 15. The defeat at Tor clears the Turks from the southern portion of the Sinai Peninsula. The victory is of greater significance owing to the situation of Tor, it being the biggest quarantine station n the world. All Mecca pilgrims must pass here. THE LAERTES' HONOURS ROLL. LONDON, Feb. 15. The Admiralty announces that Contain Probert, of the Laertes, has been gazetted a lieutenant of the Naval Reserve, and receives the Distinguishea Service CrosH. Each officer receives u gold watch and the crew £3 each. (The Laertes is a destroper which took a prominent part in the Heligoland raid, the sinking of four destroyers off the Dutch coast, and she was also probably in the North. Sea fighting.)
