INDIANS TOO MANY FOR TURKS

The “Times” IsmaLlia correspondent says that when the night fighting at Ismailia began, a torpedoer dashed up and landed five men on the eastern bank, south of Toussonn. The party stumbled into a Turkish trench, miraculously escaped, and rejoined the torpedoer, which dashed to Ismailia under fired. It enfiladed the enemy and destroyed pontoons. Twenty of the enemy crossed the canal at Toussonn and snip ed the guns in the rear until Indian cavalry captured them. The Turkish artillery hit a couple of merchantmen, but without causing cas unities.
Sniping continued after the repulse at Toussonn. A man was killed in the tops of a British battleship. The Indians were sent out and found hundreds of Turkish troops in a hollow The latter fired after signifying surrender. The Indians thereupon fixed bayonets and killed, captured or routed the lot. A British officer killed a Turkish ofii. cer with his sword in single combat. ANOTHER SMIRKISH. TURKISH TROOPS SUFFER BADLY. LONDON, Feb 14. Cairo reports that a detachment of troops landed near Tor, crossed the hills and surprised and accounted for a Turkish force of two hundred, of whom 100 were taken prisoners, including a Turkish major. Twenty camels were captured. One Ghurka was killed and one wounded. .
