FLORENCE YOUNG COMPANY. The pleasureable announcement is made in our advertising column to-day that Miss Florence Young and her own company wall appear in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening next in the successful musical play, “The Climax. Miss Florence Young’s popularity in Australia and New Zealand is undoubted and when, her long connection with the J. C. Williamson firm came to an end the gifted lyric actress secured rights for “The Climax,” and gathered round her several popular ex-prineipals of the Royal Comic Opera Company. She has bene awraded with excellent press notices from the leading y Australian critics and —what is better from a managementpoint of veiw—crowded houses everywhere. “The Climax,” according;
to a prominent Sydney writer, is “a bright comedy, with just those elements that are calculated to enlist in its: favour the whole-hearted support of cultured men and women.” Miss Young; and her associates have genial rales, and several songs are sung during- the performance. Owing t bookings ahead the local season is strictly limited tq one night. The box plan opens Finch’s to-morrow morning. No extra fee will be charged for booking.
* '• 4 PICTURE THEATRES. -yn The beautiful drama. “A Woman s Triumph,” reproduced by the Famous Players from Sir Walter Scott ‘a stirring story, “The Heart of Midlothian.” was screened before a keenly appreciative house at the Station Street Theatre last night. It is the grand story of a Scotswoman who would not tell a lie to save her sister’s life but who walked barefooted to London in quest of a pardon trow the Queen for her beloved sister.. The Queen granted the pardon and the good woman, light of heart and weary of foot, tramped back, arriving just in time to prevent her sister's execution. The play is beautifully staged and acted. The remaining pictures also proved interesting. £ “The Foreman*® Treachery, ’” a fine Edison star drama depicting the _foTf: ring life in the Welsh mines, featvJed in a strong programme screened at the Three Stars Theatre last night. The numerous other pictures were also* highly appreciated, especially the Keystone comedy, “Our Country Cousins/'? a genuine mirth-provoker.
