BOWLING.

McKENZIE RETAINS THE FEATHERS. The interests of bowling enthusiasts yesterday centred in a match for the Feathers between the holders, Somerville. Cooke. James and McKenzie (s). and the challengers, Heskerh Do Luer. Spence and Wright son (s). The resnl:

■was an easy victory for McKenzie’s rink, which lias' now successfully held Hie coveted trophies against six successive attempts to change ownership. The first four heads went to-the holders. who put on six points, but the challengers obtained six points in the-fifth head and evened matters. On the ninth head the challengers led by 10 to S, but McKenzie’s rink gained the next live heads and brought the score 1c i 1 to .10. Wriglitsou ‘s rink got three on the fifteenth head and the board then read, holders 14, challengers 13. The sixteenth and seventeenth heads went to McKenzie, throe.points in each, but Wrightson got two on the next head and the score read, i? 0 to 13 in favour of the holders. The last three heads brought McKenzie two points in each and the game ended in favour of the holders by 2(5 points to 15. Micro than one aspect of the game is worthy of comment. The challengers got the first four heads but scored six points only, and McKenzie’s team evened thjs up in one head, obtaining an abnormal score of six points. The sixteenth and seventeenth heads practically decided the result although in the last three heads the holders increased their lead of five by a further six points. The winners scored on fifteen heads. For the holders, McKenzie was in his element and placed hjs bowls well, although the whole rin': played really well. The score of 2(5 points is exceptionally .high and it seems that the Feathers are destined to remain with their present possessors for some time.
