IRON CROSSES A PENNY APIECE.

j The Order.of the Iron Cross was con- | ferred on November 16th to hun--1 dreds of Londoners, but not by the Kaiser. The ci-osses in question were an imitation of the German iron Maltese cress, and were sold on the Strand and other principal thoroughfares for one penny apiece, including a long piece of yellow ribbon. The idea appealed so much to several drivers that they purchased crosses and tied then around the necks of their horses, and when a bulldog appeared in Trafalgar Square with an iron cross attached to its collar the owner of the dog was congratulated on having such a highly honoured canine.
