IN MANY ENGLISH TOWNS. (Rc-cd. 9.5 a m.) LONDON, Jan. 10. During the past week there has been an increased rate of recruiting in London. Manchester, Burnley, and Wolverhampton. FLOODED TRENCHES. GERMANS TRY ELECTRIC PUMPS. (Reed. 11.15 a.m.) "LONDON, Jan. 10. Ten British eyewitnesses state that the Germans are apparently using pumps, electrically worked, in the Lille district, to drain trenches. An attempt was made to keejs the flood out of the trenches, but it failed owing to the Scheldt and the Lys overflowing and flooding the whole districts in Southern Belgium. <■
